ELA is showing its acknowledgement to the so-called “craftsmen of peace” for the work performed to reach this point, as well as to all the people, groups and institutions committed to the process.

Faced with the announcement of a disarming by ETA in the near future made public by a French daily newspaper, ELA would like to point out the following considerations.

ELA gives credence to the information that points towards a prompt disarming by ETA and shows its satisfaction about this.

ELA is showing its acknowledgement to the so-called “craftsmen of peace” for the work performed to reach this point, as well as all the people, groups and institutions committed to the process.

ELA values very highly the willingness shown by the Basque Government today to contribute to the success of this initiative. It also considers that the support of all the institutions in our country (different governments and parliaments of the Basque Country) is important, as well as the monitoring of the process by international bodies and personalities such as the International Verification Commission and the support from civil society.

ELA is calling for the Spanish and French governments to assume their responsibility to ensure that the disarmament can take place under the best safety conditions.
