The protests are necessary to break relations with Israel

ELA believes that the protests that have taken place in recent days during the Spanish Cycling Tour against the presence of the Israel-Premier Tech team in the race have demonstrated the importance of social mobilization, and even civil disobedience, in fighting for human rights and denouncing initiatives that support genocidal states like Israel.
"The support and normalization of this genocidal policy through a cycling team constitutes a shameful act of inhumanity, and responding and mobilizing against it becomes a civic obligation," the union states.
In this regard, and given the seriousness of what is happening in Gaza, ELA considers it essential to continue the social mobilization with the aim of ending normalized trade and economic relations with the genocidal state.
Furthermore, in light of the assessments made regarding yesterday's demonstrations, it does not share, among others, the statements made by Security Minister Bingen Zupiria, who stated that they "harm the image of the Basque Country."
Quite the contrary, ELA believes that yesterday's demonstrations, along with the numerous actions that have taken place in recent years, establish the Basque Country as a beacon of solidarity and commitment in the face of the atrocity suffered by the Palestinian people.
This is a particularly valuable reference in a context in which the European Commission and many EU countries maintain positions of open complicity with the Zionist government of Israel.
