ELA condems the massacre perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian population and denounces the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem

May 16, 2018
ELA rejects and denounces the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. This unilateral decision of the US is a breach of the United Nations resolutions on Palestine and a denial of Palestine's existence. 70 years after the beginning of Israel's policies of occupation and colonization, the constant violations of human rights continue with the complicity of the international community.

The massacre caused yesterday by the Israeli army in Gaza, in which at least 59 Palestinians died and 2,700 were injured during the protests on the border of the Strip for the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, is a violation of international law and a further example of the total lack of respect of Israel for human rights.
ELA also rejects and denounces the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. This unilateral decision of the US is a breach of the United Nations resolutions on Palestine and a denial of Palestine's existence.
One day after this massacre, the Palestinian people commemorate the 70th anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel, Nakba Day ("Catastrophe" in Arabic), which meant the displacement and exile for more than 800,000 people.
70 years after the beginning of Israel's policies of occupation and colonization, the constant violations of human rights continue with
the complicity of the international community.
Seeing this, ELA members want to express our full solidarity with the Palestinian people. Additionally, we urge the international community to adopt the necessary measures to force the State of Israel to comply with international legality and UN resolutions on Palestine, as well as to respect the human rights of the Palestinian population, with the aim of ending the occupation and that the Palestinian refugees can exercise their legitimate right of return.
