Comunicado de EuroCOP ante el ataque terrorista en Barcelona

Ataque Terrorista en Barcelona

Hablando en relación al ataque terrorista de hoy en Las Ramblas, Barcelona, Ángels Bosch, presidenta de la confederación europea de policías (EuroCOP) ha dicho:

“Los ciudadanos  de Europa han sido otra vez el objetivo de un ataque terrorista mortal y cobarde.

Esta tarde, 17 de agosto 2017 un vehículo ha conducido  deliberadamente contra los peatones que caminaban como diariamente por las Ramblas en Barcelona.

En este momento se sabe que hay 13 personas muertas y varias docenas están heridas, algunas de ellas con carácter grave.

Sabemos que la policía en Barcelona ha acudido rápidamente al lugar de los hechos y ha trabajado sin descanso para  identificar a los responsables  de este ataque sin sentido sobre personas inocentes. Aplaudimos su coraje mientras buscan a los  responsables.

Las  Ramblas es un lugar frecuentado tanto por turistas como por habitantes de Barcelona. Es un lugar muy  conocido por millones de personas por todo el mundo. No hay duda de que el impacto de este ataque se sentirá en muchos países.

Damos nuestras más sinceras condolencias a las familias y amigos de aquellos que han perdido sus vidas. Deseamos que todos aquellos heridos tengan una rápida recuperación y nos posicionamos del lado de los ciudadanos de Barcelona que tienen que hacer frente a los efectos de esta tragedia.

Barcelona es una ciudad maravillosa ejemplo de tolerancia y amor. Son los propios ciudadanos los que nunca permitirán que se destruyan las libertades democráticas de las que gozan por aquellos que promueven el odio.

Los métodos poco sofisticados usados para atemorizar a nuestro ciudadanos  demuestran que ningún sitio de Europa está libre de un posible ataque terrorista.

EuroCOP insta una vez más a los gobiernos a asegurar que los servicios policiales tienen todos los recursos que necesitan para luchar contra el terrorismo.

Barcelona Terrorist Attack

Speaking in response to today's terrorist attack on Las Ramblas, Barcelona, Àngels Bosch, president of the European Confederation of Police (EuroCOP) said:

“The citizens of Europe have once again been targeted in a deadly and cowardly terrorist attack.

This afternoon (17 August 2017) a vehicle deliberately drove at pedestrians who were going about their daily lives on Las Ramblas in Barcelona.

At this time 13 people are known to have lost their lives and many dozens more have been injured, some seriously.

We know police officers in Barcelona were quickly on the scene and are working tirelessly to identify those responsible for this senseless attack on innocents. We applaud their courage as they seek those responsible.

Las Ramblas is popular with tourists as well as locals to Barcelona. It is a location that will be known by millions from all corners of the globe. There can be no doubt the impact of this attack will be felt in many countries.

We extend our most sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives. We wish those who have been injured a speedy recovery, and we stand with the citizens of Barcelona as they face up to the after effects of this tragedy.

Barcelona is a wonderful vibrant city that epitomises tolerance and love. It's citizens will never allow the democratic freedoms they enjoy to be destroyed by those who promote hatred.

The crude and unsophisticated methods used to terrorise our citizens demonstrate that nowhere in Europe can be complacent about the likelihood of a terrorist attack in their own localities.

EuroCOP once again urges governments to ensure police services have all the resources they need to be able to fight terrorism.”
